If you didn’t already believe that Austin was one of the most unique and “weirdest” towns out there, you haven’t seen the Congress Avenue Bridge Bats! The city is home the the largest urban bat colony in the entire world and seeing one and a half million Mexican Freetails depart each night at sunset is truly breathtaking. Join us as we start your tour in the park and ride along the hike and bike trail that surrounds Ladybird Lake, heading to the Congress Avenue bridge. As the sun starts to set and it begins to get cooler you will learn all about the history of the town along the water as well as enjoy picturesque views of the city at twilight. But that is only the beginning, because we are headed toward bat country! Once there, your guide will tell you all about the history of the bridge, how the bats came to live here, their ecological impact on the city, and much much more! Take it all in as the colony departs and forms huge swirling clouds flying directly over your head! This is a worldwide phenomenon and a spectacular event that is NOT TO BE MISSED!
